Max Robertson was a solid defender who wore his heart on his sleeve. From Cohuna Union, he served South Melbourne well in 70 VFL games in 1972 and from 1974 to 1977, kicking one goal. He then moved to VFA first division side Sandringham where he made eight senior appearances in 1978.
