Collingwood recruited Murray Browne from Watsonia and he proved a decent acquisition. Playing mainly as a defender, he appeared 47 times for the seniors and kicked six goals from 1981 to 1985. He moved to Fitzroy in 1986 and added a final half a dozen VFL games without scoring a goal. Since his retirement as a player he has been involved in both the Collingwood Past Players Association and the AFL Players Association.
