Another ‘good luck’ to Percy ‘Hooker’ Bice, brilliant Norwood wingman who has enlisted with the AIF. Brice has played well over a hundred games for the Redlegs and is still as speedy as ever.¹
Perc Bice, who was one of the most talented wingmen of his day, played 135 SANFL games for Norwood and Norwood-North between 1933 and 1944. He was a key member of the Redlegs’ 1941 premiership-winning team, and represented South Australia five times. Although he boasted all the attributes most commonly associated with top class wingmen - pace to burn, excellent evasive ability, skilful handling of the ball and good distribution skills - he could also be a somewhat feisty customer, and was no stranger to the tribunal.
In 1944, while stationed in Melbourne for military training, Bice played six VFL games for Richmond.
