Footscray 's Reg Evenden was a fine full back who, because of wartime commitments, played far fewer games than might have been expected. He made his league debut in 1938, and went on to play until 1948. He played a total of 109 VFL games for the Bulldogs and kicked 13 goals. A local western suburbs boy, Evenden was one of the surest full backs of his day, and won a belated 'Big V' jumper in 1946 when interstate football resumed after the war.
