Ron Stone was an extremely versatile footballer who briefly achieved prominence at Carlton during the mid-1960s. Over the course of his career he successfully played as a ruckman, centre half forward, full back and back pocket. His Blues career comprised 16 VFL games and 13 goals between 1965 and 1969. He can be adjudged somewhat unfortunate in that he fell out of favour just as the Blues were rising like a slumbering giant to vie with Richmond as the competition’s pre-eminent force.
