A tough, bullocking ruck-rover who was deceptively pacy, and a fine kick, Perth’s Bob Page made a crucial contribution to the club’s dominance of the WANFL during the mid to late 1960s. Page it was who did much of the hard work clearing space for the likes of Cable, Dalton, Brehaut and Jenzen to show off their skills. He made his league debut in 1965, and played a total of 132 games over seven seasons. He was a key member of Perth’s 1966 and 1967 premiership teams, but missed the winning Grand Final of 1968 after sustaining an injury during the pre-match warm-up. He later played in the losing Grand Final of 1970 against South Fremantle.

Bob Page represented Western Australia eight times, including two of the state’s four games at the 1966 Hobart carnival. Perth’s 1966-1967-1968 premiership coach Mal Atwell felt that Page was unfortunate not to be selected in the club’s official ‘Team of the Century’.
