Danny Frawley was a tough, hard-hitting full back of the old school who gave St Kilda tremendous service in 240 V/AFL games between 1984 and 1995. A natural leader, he captained the Saints in a record 177 games. Winner of his club's best and fairest award in 1988, he achieved All Australian selection the same year, and was a regular member of Victorian state of origin sides for almost a decade.
After retiring as a player he spent time as an assistant coach at Collingwood before being appointed to the senior coaching post at Richmond in 2000. In five seasons at Punt Road, however, he only managed to get the Tigers into the finals once. Frawley spent time as the president of the AFL Coaches Association and was a TV and radio commentator, and a panel-member of 'Bounce', which aired on the Fox Footy channel.
Tragically, on 9th September 2019 Danny Frawley lost his life in a car crash.
