Along with his two brothers, Jack and Con, Len Chamberlain played both League football for Norwood and district cricket for East Torrens. He was arguably the pick of the bunch, mainly on the strength of an outstanding debut season as an eighteen year old in 1907. Chamberlain impressed from the outset, and was selected in the South Australian interstate team which lost at home to the VFA. Still better was to come as he not only played in a premiership team he also helped the Redlegs to a win over Carlton in the championship of Australia fixture. Playing as a key forward, despite his lack of centimetres, he was arguably the best player afield, contributing five goals to the Redlegs’ tally of 13.12.
If he did not build appreciably on his debut season he was nevertheless an important player to the Norwood Football Club over the remainder of his seven season (1907-12 and 1914), 84 game, 145 goal League career.
