A genuinely gifted footballer who combined all round brilliance with a ferociously aggressive approach, Lou Barker made a significant contribution to Fitzroy's back to back premiership triumphs of 1904 and 1905. Much of his best football was played on a half forward flank. Barker's VFL career comprised 150 games between 1900 and 1908, during which he kickeda total of 63 goals. He represented the VFL against South Australia in 1903. He was wounded while on active service during World War One, and lost the sight in one eye.
