Claremont’s Maurie Bridgwood played 172 WANFL games and booted 10 goals in a war-interrupted career which began in 1940 and ended in 1953. He was a resolute and dependable half back who served as club vice-captain for a time, and was considered by some to have been somewhat unfortunate never to have achieved state selection.
