Originally from Benalla, Tim Symes was drafted by Sydney but never actually played for the club. Instead, the 1992 season found him lining up for West Adelaide in the SANFL where he would go on to play 194 games over the ensuing decade. A hefty big man at 193cm and 104 kg he was also capable of holding down any key position or taking a turn in ruck. He was runner-up in the Bloods’ best and fairest in 2001, his penultimate season. After leavinvg West he played for his home town team, Benalla.
