Tim Weatherald was a prominent feature of the SANFL scene from his debut with Sturt in 1995 until his retirement at Norwood in 2010. The gutsy, determined small man spent 13 seasons at Sturt, during which he played 253 games, kicked 206 goals and helped the club to the 2002 flag, the same year that saw him earn the highly prestigious ‘double’ of Magarey Medal and club best and fairest award.

Prior to the 2008 season he was demoted to the reserves and told by Blues senior coach Rick MacGowan that it would require plenty of work for him to force his way back into the reckoning. After much heart-searching, Weatherald announced his retirement, only to be granted an ‘Indian Summer’ to his career by Norwood. He went on to play a further 57 serviceable games with the Redlegs.
