A wingman and half forward flanker, Tom Wallis played with Northcote both before and after world war two, as well as briefly in 1945. Between 1942 and 1947, with the exception of the aforementioned brief stint at Northcote, he played 78 VFL games and scored two goals for Collingwood. He was an especially strong performer in finals matches, almost invariably making the best players list. He later coached the Magpies’ under 19s team while his son Gary played for Collingwood, St Kilda and West Adelaide.
