Mostly used as a defender, but eminently capable of playing as a forward if required, Tony Begovich was a handy player for Claremont in 91 WAFL games between 1985 and 1992. He booted 43 goals. He was singularly unfortunate in that he was unavailable for one reason or another for all three of the Tigers’ winning grand finals during that time.
From 1990 to 1992 Begovich was on West Coast’s list, but persistent injuries limited him to just nine appearances, all in his first season. He was de-listed at the end of the 1992 season and drafted by Sydney but managed just five games in 1993 before retiring.
