Extremely pacy, inventive and incisive, Matthew Campbell commenced his career with North Adelaide in 1983 and went on to play 97 SANFL games for the club in four seasons. In 1987 he was a member of the inaugural Brisbane Bears VFL squad and quickly attracted notice with his effervescent, dynamic displays on a wing. His stint with the Bears spanned seven seasons and saw him play 79 games. A highlight of his career was selection as Australia’s goal keeper in the International Rules Test series of 1987 and 1990 against Ireland. More recently, Matthew Campbell has carved out a career for himself as a TV sports commentator.
