SATURDAY'S GAMES

SOME SURPRISE RESULTS. SOUTH MELBOURNE LEADING.

The attendances at the League matches on Saturday were remarkably large, and taking equally satisfactory. The records for Saturday may be given thus:—

At the five Association games the total attendances were about 25,000, and the total gate receipts about £300. If the junior matches be included, it may be estimated that there was quite 100,000 spectators at football matches on Saturday.

In the League competition, South Melbourne is the only team which has scored the full number of points, while no Association club has succeeded in avoiding the loss of a premiership point. The indications are that there is a general levelling up of the clubs.
