Match Report
Sydney continued its pre-finals tune-up with a big win over the Western Bulldogs at Docklands on Sunday. The Swans got the jump on the Dogs and left them in their wake with a seven-goal-to-one first quarter. The Dogs made a fist of it in the second quarter, actually outscoring the Swans 4.3 to 4.2, but Sydney went into overdrive again in the third quarter, booting six goals to two to lead by 57 points at the last change of ends. The Swans then cruised in the last quarter, kicking 3.3 to the Dogs' 2.3 to record a 63-point win.
Luke Parker was a stand-out for the Swans, with 11 tackles and 32 disposals, while Lance Franklin (six goals, nine marks) and Jarrad McVeigh (33 possessions, six tackles) also played fine games. The Bulldogs were well served by Tom Liberatore (26 touches and five tackles), Nathan Hrovat (30 possessions, six marks) and Bob Murphy (26 disposals and five marks).
The Swans sit atop the ladder and will play their final home and away match against Richmond, who will need to win to make the eight. A narrow loss to the Tigers would likely see Sydney remain in first place. The Bulldogs will see out the season with a home match against GWS, with a win needed if they are to match last year's total of eight wins.
